Commercial revitalisation of the sector around the central market (Les Halles) in Tours, enhancing the built space, and urban development and landscaping of the adjacent public spaces as well as management of pedestrian, bicycle, private car, and public transport traffic, entrance and car park availability.

An uncommon place: The new Halle-Objet (covered market-object) which will close the Place de la Grosse Tour at the north to organise it geometrically and orient it.
A more “assembled” block in the centre, occupying the spaces necessary for the calibration of the streets surrounding the existing mall.
Lastly, a third, mixed block at the southern end of the site between the new Place Sud, to be created, and the Place Gaston Paillhou, which will house shops, a crèche and housing.

We first proposed a pattern generated by the plan of the public spaces, then a volume consistent with them, and finally their use destination.

Based on the existing traffic patterns that have been maintained, passages now allow pedestrians to freely cross the new Halles from one end to the other, creating natural continuities with the surrounding streets. These transverse links have made the goal of physically linking the eastern and western banks of the Loire – the medieval city and city of the faubourgs – a reality by creating
covered passages.
Therefore the silhouette of this ensemble naturally marks each sequence, either via façades set back to indicate existing entrances and the new constructions, or via an assemblage of volumes alternating between accessible terraces and
gable roofs. The silhouette of this ensemble naturally marks each sequence, either via façades set back to indicate existing entrances and the new constructions, or via an assemblage of volumes alternating between accessible terraces and gable roofs.
