Territorial Coherence Programme (SCoT) of the Montpellier Communauté d'Agglomération

Territorial Coherence Programme (SCoT) of the Montpellier Agglomération
31 townships, 43,850 hectares, 350,000 inhabitants.
The goal of this document, which includes the sustainable development plan, is to set urban development rules for a duration of 10 years with a hypothesis of increasing the population by 100,000 inhabitants.
This strategic plan is based on design and structuring of the agricultural and natural “greater landscape” and on a policy of limiting the amount of territory consumed by urbanisation.
This project establishes urban values and balances development between townships so as to determine specifications for a group of operational urban projects, always designed with a close link with nature.
The goal of the SCoT is to define the way in which each township will participate in constructing the “greater landscape” and at the same time participate in the development goals for the conurbation.
